Inspired by wild sour cherries from rural Italy
Supercherry discovers, imports and sells Italian artisan food and drink to the trade and the public. Our flagship product is the sublime Visciolata del Cardinale, a cherry-infused wine combining sour cherries and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. At the heart of our Visciolata and our other del Cardinale products is the local wild sour cherry of Le Marche called a visciola, rich in nutrients and antioxidants.
It was Supercherry which introduced Visciolata del Cardinale to the UK where it has enjoyed a fast-growing fan base both as a dessert wine and later as a niche and sophisticated cocktail ingredient in some of the country's top bars.

Visciolata impresses everyone with the depth and quality of its flavour, its colour and its rich aroma. In restaurants a glass of Visciolata is a decadent and intriguing conclusion to a meal either alone or accompanied by a chocolate dessert, ice cream or cheese. In bars a small amount will transform a cocktail into something special and novel whether it's a traditional vermouth cocktail or a champagne cocktail, a cobbler or a sour. Read Fiona Beckett's wine recommendation in the Guardian (at the end of Dan Lepard's recipes in the Christmas Food and Drink Special 2012)-she describes the wine as: "the truly delicious Visciolata del Cardinale (£16.95 for 50cl, The Whisky Exchange; 14%abv), a sweet wine made from cabernet sauvignon infused with dried sour cherries" See Dan's delicious recipes for yourself-definitely a combo to try and not just for Christmas! |
